We’re only a couple weeks away from the release of Fears’ (aka Constance Keane’s) debut album Oíche, but in the meantime she’s gifting us with her third single from the record, “Fabric.”
Bouncy, liquidy synth starts off Fears’ latest track, mimicking the waves of the Irish Sea that feature in her previous music videos. “I try to run and I feel like I’m in slow motion,” Keane laments before the drum machine kicks in, creating a minimalist dance beat that’s impossible not to bop along to.
“‘Fabric’ is about trying to escape someone or something that will not give you room to breathe,” she says of the song. “I tried to capture the feeling of desperately trying to rebuild yourself and your life, while something will not let you go. It’s a song about feeling exhausted and trapped, but still determined to succeed.”
While the album itself isn’t out until 7th May, Fears is performing Oíche in its entirety tomorrow night (17th April) over on MusicTown’s YouTube channel. The 45-minute set will feature two musical guests bedecked in custom handmade costumes (Keane is a talented seamstress along with her musical prowess) and bring us on a journey through the night, from dusk to midnight, 3am to sunrise. TULLE presents Oíche by Fears was filmed at Protein Studios in London, with Irish visual and textile artist Niamh Mannion helping to create the ethereal set design.
